What makes our swimwear unique

"Did you know that it takes about 10 minutes for the average marlies|dekkers customer to decide on a lingerie set, but well over an hour to choose a bathing suit or bikini? Don’t worry, it’s completely normal to need more time when you buy something to wear at the beach. Where else would you undress in front of that many people? The beach has its own set of rules. So when I started designing swimwear, I felt I needed to crack that code.

Personally, I want to look good at the beach, but not too sexy. More than anything, I want to feel confident. A sensual strap or a naughty cut-out - so empowering under a suit skirt - is not going to give me that feeling at the beach. So when it comes to swimwear, I want you right there smack in the middle of your comfort zone! Let me explain how I do that, using my Signature Cache Coeur collection as an example."

The traditional bikini top consists of hardly more than two tiny triangle-shaped pieces of fabric. I decided you deserve better than that. Because my swimwear comes in actual cup sizes – rather than just S/M/L – you get a great fit, excellent support, and you don’t ever have to worry about nip slips.

no-cutting shoulder straps

I’ve given my swimwear wider shoulder straps than the classic, yet ﬂimsy triangle bikini. This way, they don’t cut into the ﬂesh of your shoulders –ouch!- and you don’t have to re-adjust your top after every tiny movement (let alone look for your bikini at the bottom of the pool after one dive).

clever constructions

In a way, designing swimwear is like a 3D puzzle: which parts to reveal, which ones to cover up? I know most women worry about very specific areas: the breasts, belly and bottom. That’s exactly where I offer security with all my designs. I came up with a signature style involving a lot of pleats and folds, and clever play with lines and proportions. I want it to feel safe like body armor, but to look like a sexy bikini.
