Funny, Feminist and Fearless Lena Dunham
Lena Dunham has taken the world by storm through her hit series Girls, which is about the lives of average girls who are making their way through their 20s in New York City. Girls can be described as edgy with and a little bit of awkwardness for the way that Dunham chooses to address issues like sex, relationships and abortions. What I most love about the series is that she will never try to conform to society standards regarding beauty, shame and sex.
This attitude has made Lena Dunham the face of the movement of modern day feminism. Something I am also very passionate about and support for a 1000% because I’m a feminist.
When I asked Lena about how she experiences the third movement around her and how she defines feminism she told me; “It’s really just about whether you are looking out for other women or not. It’s inclusive and unthreatening. It’s how it should be. ‘Do you believe that women should be paid the same for doing the same jobs as men? Do you believe that women should be allowed to leave the house? Do you think that women and men both deserve equal rights? Great, then you’re a feminist.”
Lena opened doors for women everywhere to step forward, put themselves out there, be bold and not let society tell them how they should behave, which role they should take and keep their sex stuff to themselves. Above all she is so funny. Go Lena! Keep inspiring #FemalesForward
