All my work as a feminist designer is inspired by muses. Powerful female icons from past and present. Although women have been marginalised for centuries, archetypes of female power have always been there. Through my designs, I bring them to you. To help us shape the world of modern day feminism.

This Spring|Summer, my collection is inspired by the supremely graceful Geisha. The living embodiment of the art of seduction, her life is dedicated to the pursuit of beauty in all its forms. A coy glance from behind her kimono sleeve, a glimpse of her wrist while pouring your tea; the Geisha bewitches with the smallest movements. She is elusive, a Japanese femme fatale existing in what is known as Karyukai, or “the flower and willow world.” But the Geisha’s powers of seduction can be yours. Just watch her! Follow her closely while
she floats through the streets of Kyoto in her 45-pound kimono. Observe her putting on her elaborate make up -the snow white face, the deep crimson lips- and realize that with the right kind of intention, ANYTHING can become a ritual of seduction! ‘Geisha’ literally means artist. With my Geisha collection, I want to inspire women of today to elevate the art of sensuality and seduction to a higher level. Like the butterflies I sprinkled over the lingerie pieces, you can be reborn and become a brilliant, luminous version of yourself. Kiss the sun with your multi-coloured wings. Celebrate the new you. Dare to grow.

In January, I presented my newest FW20 collection during a show full of dance and entertainment in Rotterdam. All my work as a feminist designer is inspired by muses, powerful female icons from past and present. And for FW20, my muse will be crime writer Agatha Christie. A few months from now, you will get to discover the collections, and see how they tell stories like Agatha’s thrilling books do..

Dr. Bram Bakker is a psychiatrist, a writer, a runner and a provocateur. With his many bestselling books and columns – and yes, even his own theatre show – he urges us to think outside the box when it comes to our mental health. Not crazy about popping pills? Bram shared some interesting alternatives with me, from throwing out our phones to running ‘till we puke’.
