SWIMWEAR CARE

Taking good care of your gorgeous swimwear is important when you want it to last as long as possible! You can find the specific care instructions for your marlies|dekkers item on the garment tag attached to your bikini top, bikini bottom or bathing suit, or in the care information of the item on our website. If you want to know more about how to take the best care of your swimwear, read our tips below.

Hand washed lasts longer
Some swimwear collections are not to be machine washed because of their delicate fabrics and design. Of course this will be mentioned in the garment tag and also on our website in the care information of the product page. Whenever a bikini can’t be machine washed, it’s most favorable to be hand washed. We know it can be quite a lot of work, but you will be pleased when your favorite bikini lasts longer!

Hand wash step-by-step
Not sure how to properly hand wash your bikini? Read through our step-by-step guide and you will be good to go:

Step 1. Use a washing bucket, your bathtub or maybe the bathroom sink to hand wash your bikini.
Step 2. Fill it up with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Leave out any bleach, softeners or wool detergents, because this might damage the elastics in your bikini.
Step 3. Add in your bikini and gently push them down so that they become fully submerged and saturated with the detergent.
Step 4. After a minute give your bikini a gentle pressing, which will help take out the dirt and oil. Do not soak and do not wring out!
Step 5. Then drain the water and rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Step 6. If you’re confident you’ve rinsed your bikini properly, fold it in a towel and gently press it to get rid of excess water.
Step 7. After this you’re ready to hang your bikini to dry! Preferably in fresh air, but avoid direct sunlight.

Drying
Make sure you never tumble dry your swimwear. Even if it is protected inside a washing bag, the heat will break down any elastics and can cause dimpling in your padding. We don’t want you to have to throw away your perfect bikini because of your dryer! We suggest that you shape and lay your bikini flat or hang them to dry. Not by the straps, but either over a shower rod or clipped upside down from the band. This way your bikini will still have that perfect fit it had before washing it, and no harm is done.
