lingerie care

Taking good care of your precious lingerie is important when you want it to last as long as possible! You can find the specific care instructions for your marlies|dekkers item on the garment tag attached to your bra or bottom, or in the care information of the item on our website. But, if you’re searching for a bit more information and explanation on how to take the best care of your lingerie, we’ve got you covered.

Gentle washing
While hand washing is ideal, we've designed our bras for the ladies on the go. Just keep in mind that the gentler the cycle, the better… with little to no spin. Ban bleach, softener and detergent for wool, as the elastic in your band and straps simply can't stand up to the effects. For extra protection, always place your bra in a lingerie washing bag to avoid snagging.

Make sure you never tumble dry your lingerie. Even if your bras are protected inside a lingerie washing bag, the heat will break down any elastics and can cause dimpling in your padding. We don’t want you to have to throw away your perfect bra because of your dryer! We suggest that you shape and lay your bras flat or hang them to dry. Not by the straps, but either over a shower rod or clipped upside down from the band. This way your bra will still have that perfect fit it had before washing it, and no harm is done.

Hand washed lasts longer
Some bras are not to be machine washed because of their delicate fabrics and design. Of course this will be mentioned in the garment tag and also on our website in the care information of the product page. Whenever a bra can’t be machine washed, it’s most favorable for your bra to be hand washed. We know it can be quite a lot of work, but you will be pleased when your favorite bra lasts longer!

Hand wash step-by-step
Not sure how to properly hand wash your lingerie? Read through our step-by-step guide and you will be good to go:

Step 1. Use a washing bucket, your bathtub or maybe the bathroom sink to hand wash your bra.
Step 2.Fill it up with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Leave out any bleach, softeners or wool detergents, because this might damage the elastics in your bra.
Step 3.Add in your bras and gently push them down so that they become fully submerged and saturated with the detergent. Leave them to sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 4.After about 10 to 15 minutes give your bra’s a gentle pressing, which will help take out the dirt and oil in your bras.
Step 5.Then drain the water and rinse each bra thoroughly with clean water.
Step 6.If you’re confident you’ve rinsed the bra properly, fold the bra in a towel and gently press it to get rid of excess water.
Step 7.After this you’re ready to hang your bra to dry!
