Your lingerie lasts longer when you take good care of it. Here you find instructions on how to wash your bra and tips on drying and storing your items.
Some bras can be washed in the washing machine. Just be sure to take a look at the specific care instructions for your marlies dekkers item on the garment tag attached to your bra. While hand washing is ideal, we've designed our bras for the ladies on the go. Just keep in mind that the gentler the cycle, the better… with little to no spin. Do not use bleach, softener and detergent for wool, as the elastic in your band and straps simply can't stand up to the effects. For extra protection, always place your bra in a lingerie washing bag to avoid snagging.
Because hand washed lasts longer. Some lingerie can’t be machine washed because of their delicate fabrics and design. Of course this will be mentioned in the garment tag and also on our website in the care information of the product page. Whenever a bra can’t be machine washed, it’s most favorable for your bra to be hand washed. We know it can be quite a lot of work, but you will be pleased when your favorite bra lasts longer.
1. Use a washing bucket, your bathtub or maybe the bathroom sink to hand wash your bra.
2. Fill it up with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Do not use any bleach, softeners or wool detergents, because this might damage the elastics in your bra.
3. Add in your bra and push it down gently so that it becomes fully submerged and saturated with the detergent.
4. Gentle press your bra to help take out the dirt and oil. Do not soak and do not wring out!
5. Then drain the water and rinse the bra thoroughly with clean, cold water.
6. If you’re confident you’ve rinsed the bra properly, fold the bra in a towel and gently press it to get rid of excess water.
7. After this you’re ready to hang your bra to dry!
We recommend you to use a mild detergent. It is important to leave out any bleach, softeners or wool detergents. These types of detergents might damage the elastics in your bra. A little bit goes a long way, so a very small amount of detergent is all you'll need to get your bras clean without leaving a soapy residue behind after rinsing.
We recommend you to wash your bra after wearing it three to six times.
No, make sure you never tumble dry your lingerie. Even if your bras are protected inside a lingerie washing bag, the heat will break down any elastics and can cause dimpling in your padding. We don’t want you to have to throw away your perfect bra because of your dryer!
The best way to dry your bra, actually the only way to properly dry your bra is air dry. We suggest that you shape and lay your bras flat or hang them to dry (avoid direct sunlight to dry your bra!). Not by the straps, but either over a shower rod or clipped upside down from the band. This way your bra will still have that perfect fit it had before washing it, and no harm is done.
The best way to store your bras is by laying them flat and stacking the bras on top of each other. Do not fold the cups of your bra or invert one of the cups, because this can damage the shape.
