Get freezing!

Get freezing!

Can you strengthen your body and mind by exposing yourself to extremely cold temperatures? ‘Iceman’ Wim Hof, world record holder for the longest ice bath (1 hour, 53 minutes), convinced me a few winters ago that you can.

As I stepped into the freezing lake that morning, I literally thought I might die. But Wim, who once climbed the Mount Everest in just his shorts, had taught me special meditative breathing techniques. Once I calmed my mind, I actually felt more alive than ever! I have been taking cold showers daily since, and even upgraded to cold baths recently. I am proud to say that within a week I was able to stay immersed a full 3 minutes, but I’m working my way up to Wim’s record, of course! (I’m only half kidding).

There is more and more scientific proof that ‘cold stress’ can boost your body’s immune system and balance your hormone levels, but why don’t you try it for yourself? Your inner ‘ice woman’ might just surprise you…
