Ready for my close up! #frameyourbeauty

by Marlies Dekkers
The “selfie” is something which has become a huge part of our modern culture. And I, a self-proclaimed selfie fanatic, could not have been happier. But to many the question remains: WHHYYYY???

Ever since smartphones came equipped with cameras that face not just outward but also backward the selfie trend has exploded. But for me, I have been “doing” selfies as from the moment I had my first camera (1983). It all started with a high dose of curiosity; how does my body look like? Making a picture for me meant framing a particular part of my body and giving it extra attention. I discovered that I was able to make unnoted parts of my body very beautiful, just by framing them. My selfie fanatism didn’t just come with the rise of the smartphone, it comes from a genuine desire to explore my body, believing that your body is the greatest natural canvas.

Still, It is often argued that selfies reinforce the idea that what matters most in this world is how things, and people, look. It frames a beautiful part of myself that I feel secure about

I dare you to explore what the game of revealing and unveiling can do for you. Start loving your own body and make all parts loveable by framing them. Various effects like lighting, angles, and filters can even trigger the artist in you. Dare to watch yourself, even the parts which you might feel a little bit intimidated with. But framing your beauty will help you embrace who you are and how you look. I believe you are creating your own definition of beauty, embracing your flaws and challenging social norms.

Don’t ignore your emotions; they are much more powerful than you can imagine. By linking the magical world of emotions with hard science, Dutch scientist Pierre Capel, professor emeritus in experimental immunology, shows us the consequences of our feelings and the power of our minds. The message: we can do much more than we think. “Meditate. It’s the single best thing you can do for your health.”

The fact that I feel bikini-confident all year round is, of course, a nice bonus. But for me, the biggest payoff of following the keto diet is the way it optimizes my health and gives me tons of energy.

Super (skin) food

‘If you can’t eat it, why put it on your skin?’. I pretty much live by this beauty adage. After all, with your skin being one of your body’s largest organs, anything – and I mean anything! – you put onto your skin will end up in your bloodstream.
