Dare to be an original Valentine- Lingerie shopping for your partner 2.0

Lingerie shopping for your Valentine; isn’t that a bit of a cliché? Not if you do it right. Come on baby, light her fire!

I think one of the most romantic things you can do for someone is making their sexual dream come true. And lingerie can play a big part in that. Here’s how:

1. First of all: what makes her tick? Who is she in her sexual fantasies? And what role do you play in those? Maybe you’ve never asked, maybe you have and it was hard for her to express it. In that case you could try the writing exercise I shared with you earlier to loosen things up. Or plan a romantic dinner. Just make her feel like she can trust you with her secrets, however extreme –or tame!- they may be.

2. Now take a good look at her. What is her shape, what are her sizes? I can assure you, it’s a huge turn-on for a woman when a man gets her sizes right. If you have to, steal one of her bras and bring it to the lingerie store. You could even show pictures of your lover to the staff. They have a trained eye and know a thing or two about discretion.

3. Okay, it’s shopping time! Try to look at the collections through the eyes of the woman she is in her sexual fantasies. Try to imagine how she looks and feels when she wears it. By all means, say yes to a glass of champagne when being offered one. Have fun, take some risks.

4. Bonus tip: don’t forget about your own role in her sexual fantasies! Dress the part. She may have a very specific fantasy, like the window cleaner she invites in for coffee and more, or maybe she just wants to see you in a sharp business suit. You’ll see, thinking of her turned on by how you look, will turn you on too! Isn’t it great how passion works? Have a sexy Valentine!

In January, I presented my newest FW20 collection during a show full of dance and entertainment in Rotterdam. All my work as a feminist designer is inspired by muses, powerful female icons from past and present. And for FW20, my muse will be crime writer Agatha Christie. A few months from now, you will get to discover the collections, and see how they tell stories like Agatha’s thrilling books do..
