A whole newspaper to myself??

A whole newspaper to myself??

by Marlies Dekkers

Last year I got one of those calls you will never forget, I was asked to be the quest editor in chief of the Dutch Metro Mode.

“Marlies has forever changed the world of lingerie. She inspires women, not only with her lingerie designs but also with her lifestyle and Rotterdam Approach.” I felt so honored by these words of Karin Kuijpers, editor-in-chief of the Dutch Metro. She asked me to be her guest editor-in-chief for a special edition of the newspaper called Metro Mode. With a list of impressive guest editors-in-chief such as Lady Gaga (she wears my designs!) and Karl Lagerfeld, I accepted her offer in less then a second!!

A whole paper all to myself! I was thrilled to share my thoughts on fashion and how this inspired my lifestyle and designs. The whole adventure, from concept to publishing, was just one of those I-will-never-ever-forget-this life experiences. Want to see the result? click here.

In January, I presented my newest FW20 collection during a show full of dance and entertainment in Rotterdam. All my work as a feminist designer is inspired by muses, powerful female icons from past and present. And for FW20, my muse will be crime writer Agatha Christie. A few months from now, you will get to discover the collections, and see how they tell stories like Agatha’s thrilling books do..
