A Boob Experiment

by Marlies Dekkers

“Please draw your own breasts and write one sentence explaining how you feel about them,” I asked 15 great women working for marlies|dekkers. The result was funny, sexy and at times, very moving

When New York Magazine did a poll asking 57 women, aged 17 to 72 how they see their own breasts, I immediately wondered what the result would look like if I did this poll among the women at our office.

These women who deal with breasts professionally on a daily basis.

So I asked them, and they went to work with a magic marker. I loved the results, and funnily enough, I recognised some of the women immediately by their drawings. I guess our breasts, and especially the way we see them, might influence our identity more than we think! Enjoy!

How do you see your own breasts? Try to make a drawing; you might gain a very interesting insight into yourself!

Don’t forget to shop great bra’s for those great boobs!

In January, I presented my newest FW20 collection during a show full of dance and entertainment in Rotterdam. All my work as a feminist designer is inspired by muses, powerful female icons from past and present. And for FW20, my muse will be crime writer Agatha Christie. A few months from now, you will get to discover the collections, and see how they tell stories like Agatha’s thrilling books do..
