Own the sky in my Aviator couture collection

Are you ready for takeoff? You better be, because this season, we will reach for the stars with feminist hero of flight Amelia Earhart. By flying solo across the Atlantic in 1932, this pioneering aviator showed women worldwide that the sky is NOT the limit. Standing defiantly on the wing of her plane in her jodhpurs, leather jacket and lace-up boots, Amelia exuded both grit and grace. She personified freedom. And she gave us something we had been craving for a long time: our own, swashbuckling heroine.

When people called Amelia ‘crazy and reckless’, she didn’t disagree. “Everyone has oceans to fly, if they have the heart to do it. Is it reckless? Maybe. But what do dreams know of boundaries?”, Amelia would say, flashing her dazzling, gaptoothed smile. And off she went, to break another outrageous record. Even when it came to love, Amelia was the pilot of her own destiny. “I cannot guarantee to endure at all times the confinements of even an attractive cage,” Amelia warned publicist George P. Putnam on their wedding day. She followed her heart, not his. The way Amelia loved, lived and embraced all the inevitable risks was a spectacular manifestation of my motto ‘dare to dream, dare to grow, dare to be’. And as we fly into the future of feminism, Amelia dares us to dream bigger and bolder: “Women, like men, should try to do the impossible.”

My new Couture Collection is designed for women ready to take flight. Reach for the stars in these spectacular, sage green pieces inspired by the iconic, badass bomber jacket. Thanks to the eye-popping patches, you can – quite literally – wear your feminine feminism as a badge of honor!

In January, I presented my newest FW20 collection during a show full of dance and entertainment in Rotterdam. All my work as a feminist designer is inspired by muses, powerful female icons from past and present. And for FW20, my muse will be crime writer Agatha Christie. A few months from now, you will get to discover the collections, and see how they tell stories like Agatha’s thrilling books do..

With his many bestselling books and columns – and yes, even his own theatre show – he urges us to think outside the box when it comes to our mental health. Not crazy about popping pills? Bram shared some interesting alternatives with me, from throwing out our phones to running ‘till we puke’.
