Three reasons why I adore Charlotte Olympia (apart from her amazing shoes)
Here are 3 reasons why:
1-She believes in indepedence.
Charlotte never wanted to work for anyone else and had already even created her logo –her name underneath a golden spiderweb- while at college.
2-She believes in day time glamour.
The designer looks like a ’40s Vargas pin-up girl, and not just on the red carpet. She wears her bright red lipstick and Veronica Lake style waves from morning to night and is not afraid to finish her look with matching gloves, hats and handbags. It was her fabulous Brazilian-born mother Andrea, the famous fashion model known as ‘Rio’ in the 1980’s, who instilled a deep love for old school glamour in Charlotte. “I remember a closet filled with Alaïa, Yves Saint Laurent, costume jewellery, sequins, feathers and all those fun things,” Charlotte told Vogue UK.
3-She believes in having it all.
Charlotte was one of four herself and always wanted to have ‘both the business and the babies.’ Ironically, taking into consideration her hyper feminine designs, she’s had three boys with her husband, financier Maxim Crewe since she started her business in 2007. Even when she’s chasing her sons, the designer is dressed to the nines in a black sheath dress and fishnet tights, though she will swap her usual ‘Dolly’ heels (6 inches high) for more practical footwear. “That’s exactly why I designed the Kitty flats!” The secret to finding the right balance between motherhood and career success? Charlotte doesn’t believe in a magic formula. “Get on with it. Just wake up and use the day.” My kind of girl.

Building bridges
From the Erasmus Bridge and the Mercedes-Benz Museum to Qatar’s metro network; Ben van Berkel’s iconic landmarks bring people together in rapturous beauty, again and again. I talked with the Dutch architect and educator about sensuality, ‘healthy’ buildings and the remarkable parallels between our designs.

More than a feeling
Don’t ignore your emotions; they are much more powerful than you can imagine. By linking the magical world of emotions with hard science, Dutch scientist Pierre Capel, professor emeritus in experimental immunology, shows us the consequences of our feelings and the power of our minds. The message: we can do much more than we think. “Meditate. It’s the single best thing you can do for your health.”

Keto curious?
The fact that I feel bikini-confident all year round is, of course, a nice bonus. But for me, the biggest payoff of following the keto diet is the way it optimizes my health and gives me tons of energy.

Super (skin) food
‘If you can’t eat it, why put it on your skin?’. I pretty much live by this beauty adage. After all, with your skin being one of your body’s largest organs, anything – and I mean anything! – you put onto your skin will end up in your bloodstream.
