About marlies|dekkers

At marlies|dekkers, we believe in freedom of expression in a world still pressured by outdated norms. Since 1993, pioneering Dutch designer Marlies Dekkers has been on a mission to empower women through lingerie and swimwear that celebrate both beauty and strength. Her signature strap designs, embraced by over 200 A-list celebrities, have become a global symbol of confidence and individuality. Guided by a golden combination of design, fit, and a feminine point of view, Marlies creates pieces that frame women’s beauty and ignite their inner confidence. More than lingerie, they are statements of self-belief; designed to inspire women to own their destiny and celebrate the power of being a woman.

‘Dare to dream, dare to grow, dare to be.’

- Marlies Dekkers

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Marlies Dekkers was born in 1965 and graduated at the Acadamy of Art with distinction in 1991. She launched her first lingerie collection in 1993. Spanning more than 33 years in time. Marlies' illustrious career in lingerie design has always been dominated by her ambition to frame the wearer's beauty at every opportunity, thereby boosting the confidence of the many women who adore her distinctive designs.

Outstanding product design

THE GOLDEN COMBINATION

At marlies|dekkers, product design begins with a simple but powerful idea: the female body is not something to hide, but a canvas to celebrate. Each design is created to highlight natural curves through clean lines, strong silhouettes and the signature use of straps that frame rather than cover. By playing with contrast between skin and fabric, the designs create a subtle tension between what is revealed and what is suggested; turning lingerie into an interactive form of art that is completed by the woman who wears it.

This artistic vision is combined with what Marlies calls her “Golden Combination”,
3 core principles that guide product design:

1. Design

No frou-frou. The French and the Italians, who dominated the world of lingerie back then, like to wrap women up like bon-bons. Marlies considers herself a minimalist, and in that regard, typically Dutch: each line was going to matter.

2. Fit

Marlies wanted a superb fit and outstanding quality. Her goal: to make the Rolls Royce of bras and knickers.

3. Feminine point of view

What do women want? After centuries of the male point of view dominating art and design, Marlies wanted to (re)discover what made women click.

Sustainability

From day one marlies|dekkers had a clear goal: to make beautiful lingerie and swimwear with an empowering message in a way that respects both people and the environment. Together with our partners, we make high-quality and durable products, putting lots of love and effort into the process to make sure you can wear our products for years.

Our latest step, becoming a Certified B Corporation - aka a 'BCorp' - shows you how far we've come. A real milestone! To become a member of this global network of organizations that balance profit with purpose, our entire social and environmental impact was rigorously measured. The verdict? marlies|dekkers is using lingerie as a force of empowerment, and business as a force of good.
